We have published an alert on National Grid Electricity System Operator’s Winter 2022/23 early view report.
The ESO considers that it is important for industry to be provided with a rough understanding of the situation to come, through the early view report. It is operating under the assumption that the peak demand on an average cold spell will be 59.5 GW on the transmission and distribution networks, including a 1.2 GW reserve.
The ESO notes that a detailed analysis will be presented in the winter outlook report which will be published in autumn. It also states it is likely the information presented in the early view of winter 2022-23 will change in the winter outlook report as it will incorporate new market intelligence increasing the accuracy nearer the winter period.
