Saliw Cleto is the Modelling & Analytics Manager at Cornwall Insight Australia and is responsible for the delivery of energy market modelling services such as the Benchmark Power Curves (BPC), FCAS forecasting, and other bespoke analysis.

He is an electrical engineer with a master’s degree and wide-ranging experience, having worked for market operators, generator, transmission, and distribution companies.

Saliw’s background in the energy market and experience in the challenges facing the energy industry have been in-depth and extensive and includes:

• Energy market operation
• Wholesale energy market analysis
• Generation trading and portfolio optimisation
• Long-term scenario planning
• Investment planning and modelling
• Power system analysis
• Market design
• Policy analysis

He has worked most recently at AusNet Services and TransGrid, leading energy market modelling to support network investment justifications and navigating the complex regulatory frameworks around Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T).

Before that, he was a core member of AEMO’s modelling team, delivering crucial studies, including NTNDPs, ESOOS, GSOOs, and other AEMO planning publications.

Saliw uses his knowledge gained from training as an electrical engineer and international experience in energy markets to ensure that insights gained from modelling are technically and commercially sound.
